IRIJIi MBAISE 2026: CPC Unveils Plans, Reiterates Commitment To Host Nations During Mbaise Rich Cultural Heritage

The Central Planning Committee (CPC) for the 2026 Iri Ji Mbaise National Cultural Festival has reaffirmed its commitment to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Mbaise people by officially outlining activities for this year’s event during.

This was stated during a World Press Conference held recently at the Ezuruezu Mbaise Civic Centre in Aboh Mbaise.

Flanked by traditional rulers from across Mbaise, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Chief Steve Onu described Iri Ji Mbaise as an annual thanksgiving to God for a bountiful harvest and for safeguarding the lives of the people of Mbaise over the years.

Chief Onu pointed out that the festival has expanded from a mere cultural event to a major tourist, corporate organisations’ event.

He stated that this year’s edition will showcase the rich traditions, values, hospitality, and cultural identity of the Mbaise people.

He also explained that the celebration would include vibrant cultural displays, traditional dances, exhibitions, and other activities aimed at promoting unity, peace, cultural heritage, tourism, and investment opportunities in Mbaise.

During the event, the Chairman of the Ndi Eze Mbaise Cultural Association, HRH Eze Reginald Aguwamba, called Iri Ji Mbaise a treasured cultural heritage passed down by ancestors and preserved by traditional rulers.

He emphasized that the festival remains a symbol of the identity and unity of the Mbaise people and that traditional rulers continue to protect its customs and ensure future generations inherit this cherished tradition.

Eze Aguwamba also shared that this year’s celebration will draw traditional rulers from across Imo State and the South-East, along with prominent personalities, cultural enthusiasts, and visitors from various parts of the country.

Speaking, the Executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Barr. Iheukwumere Alaribe, reassured prospective attendees that measures have been put in place to ensure a successful, hitch-free festival.

He announced that plans to rehabilitate key roads leading to the festival site have been completed, and all access roads will be drivable before the event begins.

Regarding security, the council chairman stated that comprehensive arrangements have been made in partnership with relevant security agencies to ensure the safety of residents, guests, and participants throughout the festival. He encouraged visitors to attend without fear, assuring them that security measures have been strengthened to guarantee a peaceful and memorable celebration.

The World Press Conference also served as an invitation for Nigerians and friends of Mbaise to join the 2026 Iri Ji Mbaise Cultural Festival, promising a memorable event that will reflect the rich cultural heritage, hospitality, and enduring values of the Mbaise people.
