EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987, Paschal Gregory Uumunnawuike Madu started his career in legal practice as a State Counsel in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice between 1987-1988 from where he joined the Law Firm of Dr. J.N. Nwodo & Co. He co-founded Abdullahi Madu & Co, where he specialized in diverse areas of Law including; Banking Law, Oil & Gas, Insolvency, Public utility, Insurance, Arbitration, Maritime law, Admiralty, Intellectual property law, Corporate law, Corporate financing, Restructuring, Mergers and Acquisitions, Joint Ventures and Corporate buy-outs. etc.
He is a Fellow, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (U.K) Nigeria Branch and Member, International Bar Association. Mr. Paschal Madu has over the years established a strong professional presence as Advisory Board Member, The Institute for Transnational Arbitration of the Centre for American and International Law, Dallas, Texas USA; Member, National Committee on the Reform and Harmonization of Arbitration and ADR Laws (2005); Member, Institute of Development Management of Nigeria; Member, Franchise Association of Nigeria; Member, Nigeria Economic Summit Group; Fellow, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria; Executive Member of the Nigerian Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (U.K) Nigeria Branch from 2006-2013; Member, KIAC Panel of International Arbitrators – (Kigali). Internationally Certified Negotiator, Bond University, Australia. Distinguished Member, International Chamber of Commerce Nigeria [ICC]. He is currently a Faculty Member-Tutor, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (U.K) Nigeria Branch, Fellow and Faculty Member – Institute of Construction Industry Arbitrators [FICIArb]., Delegate Member – National Committee to the ICC Commission in Paris on Arbitration and ADR for a term running from 1 July 2024 until 30 June 2027.
Paschal Madu is a thorough bred professional who is good in negotiations and has a vast experience in arranging and supervising large-scale commercial transactions.
He is a listed arbitrator with the Nigerian Communications Commission Arbitration Scheme, Panel Member on Dispute Resolution, Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), and Member, Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration, Lagos. He has on a number of occasions acted as Counsel, Consultant, Sole Arbitrator/Panel Chairman in domestic and international arbitration proceedings for Clients including International Oil Companies (IOC’s), Government Regulatory Agencies, Capital Market Operators, Oil and Gas Exploration Companies etc.
He has written and delivered public lectures on Arbitration and other forms of Alternative Dispute Resolution [ADR].
He has equally handled some high profile criminal cases on behalf of Individuals, Governments and its agencies both in states and at the federal levels.
He is the Chairman of the following companies:
– Excelerate Energy Resources Ltd. [EXGAS],
– Pipeline Products & Projects Services Ltd, [3PSL – Oil & Gas Services],
– GP-V Nigeria Limited (Logistic Services).
He has attended various international and local seminars and conferences touching on different areas of international investments as speaker/delegate.
Chief Technical Adviser [CTA] to the Immediate past Governor of Imo State, Nigeria 2019 – 2020.
Mr Paschal Madu, established the firm of P.G.U. Madu & Associates in 1991, as the Principal Partner till date.
He is fluent in ENGLIGH; IGBO and working GERMAN.
He enjoys reading, soccer, lawn tennis, travelling and listening to classical and high life genre of music.
Mr. Madu is happily married to Lynda Madu [Nee Ohaegbulem] and they are blessed with lovely children.
