The Uvuru Community Development Union (UCDU) has launched its Specialized Security Team and unveiled modern security equipment to better protect lives and property within the community.

The security equipment was unveiled at the Aboh Mbaise Local Government Council Headquarters during a ceremony attended by government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, and stakeholders. The initiative aims to strengthen community-based security and support the Imo State Government’s efforts to combat crime and promote peace.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area, Barr. Iheukwumere Henry Alaribe, praised the leadership of the Uvuru Community Development Union for its steadfast commitment to community security and development.

Barr. Alaribe described Uvuru as a model community in Aboh Mbaise, noting its continued distinction through humility, unity, and dedication to peace and progress. He also commended the community for supporting Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration.

The council chairman applauded Governor Uzodimma for establishing the state’s community-based security framework, calling it a bold and visionary step that has significantly bolstered security throughout Imo State.

According to him, many initially doubted the program’s success when it was first introduced.

“When the government initiated this security programme, it appeared unrealistic to many people. Hope was low, and only a few believed it could succeed. However, the Governor remained focused and undaunted in pursuing his vision,” he said.

Barr. Alaribe explained that the program created a structured network of operatives across the state, with 15 trained security personnel selected from each autonomous community. He emphasized that these operatives had received intensive training in intelligence gathering, surveillance, and safe handling of arms and ammunition.

He further praised the President General of the Uvuru Community Development Union, Engr. Chimaroke Benedict Nnaji, for showing exceptional patriotism by supporting the state’s security efforts.

According to the chairman, although the Imo State Government had already supplied operational equipment to the security teams, UCDU went further by procuring and donating additional modern security gadgets to improve the effectiveness of the Specialized Security Team.

He called on other communities and town unions across Aboh Mbaise and Imo State to follow Uvuru’s example, emphasizing that sustainable security can only be achieved through cooperation between the government and local communities.

In his vote of thanks, the President General of Isiala Uvuru and Chairman of the Security Committee, Mr. Levi Ikeh, commended Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area’s Executive Chairman, Barr. Iheukwumere Henry Alaribe, for his support for the Uvuru community and efforts to strengthen grassroots security.

Mr. Ikeh expressed appreciation to Uvuru’s sons and daughters, both local and in the diaspora, for their ongoing financial and moral support for community security and development. He also praised members of the Special Security Team and their coordinators for their dedication and sacrifices, urging them to stay disciplined, professional, and committed to protecting lives and property.

The event concluded with the formal presentation of security equipment to the operatives, reinforcing Uvuru Community’s commitment to grassroots security and supporting the Imo State Government’s goal of making society safer.

Dignitaries present included Charles Mbakwe, Secretary to the Local Government, and Hon. John A. Ikewe.

Delegates from Uvuru included Hon. Chinonye Nwaogu, Chief Whip of the Aboh Mbaise Legislative Council and Councillor representing Uvuru Ward I; Hon. Ugonna Ihenaka, Councillor representing Uvuru Ward II; Hon. Levi Ikeh, President General of Isiala Autonomous Community; Hon.
